Auto Train: Sanford, Florida

my daughter positions her stuffed bear for a photo shoot
she has mastered idle time

it is summer
our car rides cars behind us

light swipes the room
in strips as we flash past dense forests

the Japanese call this filtering of sun
through trees, komorebi

our bodies are preserved in movement
minds safe to be still

we wait for the attendant to fold our seats into beds
we wait to be carried
